2. multi-genre project discovery session
Another significant example of early stages of writing is the multi-genre project discovery session. This was a daybook assignment you assigned, requiring us to sketch out 3 rough drafts of three separate genres. I took this opportunity to really figure out which genre would be best for me. I would think out various genre ideas and write it down or make small sketches. After the period of “brainstorming,” I would go down and see which would work the best. After picking out each genre, I went down and listed the purpose, reason, audience and strategy for writing. This served as the very rough building blocks that kick started the rest of my project. I enjoyed this assignment because of the creativity and freedom that was given to me. Instead of the usual “read the article and answer questions” this allowed things to be done my way and how I wanted it.
